1st General Meeting of the Spanish EvoDevOmics Network
On 27–28 April 2026, Barcelona hosted the 1st General Meeting of the Spanish EvoDevOmics Network, bringing together researchers from different institutions to share ideas, projects and questions at the intersection of evolutionary developmental biology and omics technologies.
Over two days, the meeting created a space to exchange results, discover complementary lines of research and explore new collaborations. The scientific sessions covered a wide range of topics, from the evolution of developmental programmes to the role of gene regulation and omics data in understanding biological diversity.
Beyond the talks, the meeting captured the spirit of the EvoDevOmics Network: building a community, connecting disciplines and encouraging open discussion around how genomes, development and evolution shape the diversity of life.
The programme also included outreach activities open to the public, bringing topics such as animal evolution, development and our origins closer to society. This first gathering marks an exciting starting point for EvoDevOmics in Spain, and a step forward in consolidating a shared space for researchers working across evolution, development and omics.
